- Economic Output: RNG operations generated a total economic output nearing $14 billion, benefitting local communities and supply chains across the nation.
- Facility Expansion: There are currently over 400 operational RNG facilities in the United States, with another 130 under construction and 233 more planned. This expansion is expected to increase RNG production capacity by 60% in the coming years.
The RNG Coalition emphasized that RNG’s growth aligns with both economic and environmental objectives. By capturing methane emissions from organic waste—such as landfills, wastewater treatment plants, and agricultural byproducts—RNG reduces greenhouse gas emissions while providing a renewable energy alternative to fossil fuels.
